Dr. José Valentino Ruiz is a Latin-GRAMMY nominated artist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, educator, clinician, and record producer known for his passionate performances, versatility & fluid expression on the flute, saxophone, bass, piano, and latin percussion.
His albums, performances, ensemble leadership in higher education, improvisations and compositions, and engineering skills have won an unprecedented 42 International DOWNBEAT Student Music Awards (2006 – 2016) for the following categories: Best Jazz Soloist – 7, Classical Soloist – 2, Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist – 7, Studio Engineered Recording – 5, Live Engineered Recording – 3, Latin Group – 8, Jazz Group – 3, andBlues/Pop/Rock Group – 3. I had the privilege of having Carlson as a friend and mentor for my artistic endeavors.

Elias Tona is currently touring with Al Di Meola, as his principal bassist. I had the privilege of having him play on my tracks in Mosaico. His unique versatility has allowed him to work different genres such as jazz, pop, salsa, Latin-jazz, rock and gospel. He has participated as a bassist in various musical productions and concerts, for different artists and bands, some of which include: La India (Grammy’s Salsa Artist and Latin Grammy’s nominee), Jerry Rivera (Grammy’s Salsa Artist and Latin Grammy’s nominee), Charlie Cruz, Puchi Colón, Vashawn Mitchell (Grammy’s Gospel Artist nominee), Kim Burrell (Dove and Stellar Awards Gospel Artist and Grammy’s nominee), Ingrid Rosario (Latin Grammy’s Christian Artist nominee), Bobby Roman, BK Jackson Blest (Dove and Latin Grammy’s Christian Artist nominee), Jon Montalban, Leonard Jones (founder of Morning Star Ministries).
